Yesterday, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) announced an agreement that it has shipped 10 million radio frequency identification (RFID) Gen 2 chips to Sontec Co., Ltd., a leading Korean developer and manufacturer of RFID components and middleware. The information in the release regarding the contract is correct, but the total number of chips shipped to date, stated as 10 million, is incorrect. The current contract with Sontec is for 10 million chips and initial shipments have been made with the remainder to be delivered by the first half of 2007.
